Dr. Ammon Kau and our team understand the role we play: we help children grow up with healthy smiles and we ensure positive visits so our young patients “graduate” feeling at ease in the dental chair.
Our approach to pediatric dentistry is in our name: “Malama” means to” take care” or to “care for.” We are honored to take care of and provide care for the children!

We are known for offering a warm and friendly atmosphere, where each person who comes through our door is greeted with smiles. We truly love what we do and appreciate that we spend our days surrounded by complex, fascinating, and energetic kids, helping each grow up with a smile they love – and love to care for!
- Our Doctor: Dr. Kau grew up in Kaneohe, obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and returned to Hawaii to complete his specialized residency in pediatric dentistry. He has practiced for seven years, driven by the desire to combat dental disease amongst Hawaii’s kids. A father of five, Dr. Kau knows how to connect with children in a reassuring manner, taking his time to establish a rapport and trust with each!
- Our Team: Our team members – those in the front office and those in the clinic – are warm, friendly, patient, and professional. Each is also accommodating, resourceful, and compassionate. We love getting to know each child and their family and are honored to be part of their lives. It’s a bittersweet day when a little has matured and is ready to move onto an adult dental practice. We’re so proud of them and yet sad to see them go!
- Our Atmosphere: We’ve designed our dental office to be kid-friendly and engaging, a place where kids are expected to be kids, not little adults. We love hearing their laughter, are skilled at coaxing forth reluctant smiles, and take all the time needed to make sure children know they are safe, heard, and treasured for who they are!
